Pingers are the people checking in. They tap a mood whenever they like, and their Guardians get notified.
Guardians are the people doing the watching. They receive each check-in and get an urgent alert if their Pinger goes silent.

On one account, no, each account is permanently one role. To do both, sign up twice with different emails. This is a design choice that keeps the experience clear for both you and the people watching you (or being watched by you).

The Pinger generates a 6-character invite code in the app and shares it (text, in person, however) with the Guardian. The Guardian opens the Watching tab, taps “Add”, and enters the code. They’re connected instantly. The code expires after 24 hours and can only be used once.

Whenever you want, there’s no required schedule. The only thing that matters is your inactivity window. By default, if you don’t check in for 48 hours, your Guardians are alerted. In Settings you can choose 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days, 3 days, or a week, whichever rhythm fits your life.

Mostly the same, each check-in is logged with a timestamp, location (optional), and resets your inactivity timer. The mood you pick tailors what your Guardians see:😊 I’m Well, friendly heads-up, calm green theme📞 Call Me, politely asks them to call🆘 Need Help, urgent red alert, bypasses cooldown😟 Stressed, flags you’re having a hard time💭 Thinking of You, pure warmth, no follow-up expected

So your Guardians’ inboxes don’t get spammed. SOS (“Need Help”) always bypasses the cooldown, emergencies don’t wait.

An optional short video you can attach to a check-in. While recording, the app shows randomized on-screen prompts (like blink or turn your head) and checks that you actually perform them before it accepts the clip, so a static photo or an old recording can’t pass. Your Guardians still see the full video. To be clear, this is a liveness check, not deepfake detection, and recording one is always your choice.

That’s iOS’s “Limited Contacts Access” feature. The app shows a yellow banner pointing you to Settings, tap Open Settings, then change Contacts → All Contacts. Next time you open the picker, you’ll see your full list.

Yes, each Guardian picks their own intensity for each Pinger they watch:

• Gentle, one email when they go overdue, then quiet.
• Standard, email + push, repeats every 12 hours until you acknowledge or the Pinger checks in.
• Urgent, email + push, repeats every hour. For the people you really don’t want to lose track of.

It’s a one-tap acknowledgement. Tap it from your inbox and the alert repeats stop immediately, no need to open the app. They’ll resume only if the Pinger goes silent again after their next check-in.

Check that you’ve granted notification permissions for Careping in your phone’s Settings. On iOS: Settings → Notifications → Careping → Allow Notifications. On Android: Settings → Apps → Careping → Notifications. If permissions are on but you’re still not getting them, contact us and we’ll look at our logs together.

First check your spam folder, the from-address is hello@care-ping.com. If you don’t find it there, contact us with the rough time of the missed check-in and we can investigate.

The minimum we need to do the job: your email + name (for sign-in), your check-in timestamps + moods, optional location attached to each check-in, optional proof-of-life videos you record, and your invite/Guardian connections. That’s it. See the Privacy Policy for specifics.

No. Location is captured at the moment of each check-in (and optionally in a battery-efficient background mode, only when you move significantly, ~500m, to keep the “last known location” current). It’s never streamed continuously.

Yes, in two taps. Settings → Account → Delete Account. This wipes your profile, all check-ins, all videos, and all watcher links, and removes your authentication identity so nobody else can sign in with your email afterwards.
